Ignore the leprosy and go!

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Luke 11.9-10)

As God’s children we are entitled to blessings. However, these blessings only come to us through the practise of our faith - the inner strength He puts inside us.

For some, answers can come quickly but for others it takes longer. Nevertheless, answers always come at the right time, because when we pray we are communicating with the supreme authority of heaven and earth. And the more we ask and receive, the more God can be glorified.

“When we come to Him, He never looks at what we have done or who we are; He simply looks at our heart.” Jesus said: “And the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (John 6.37) Look at this extraordinary promise of God! He never discriminates. He simply says: “Whoever comes to Me…”

It’s not difficult to believe in Jesus’ words but perhaps you say, “Bishop, how can I come to Jesus if I am such a sinner? I‘ve done so many bad things!” Here we see the greatness of God. When we come to Him, He never looks at what we have done or who we are; He simply looks at our heart.

If there is a desire in your heart to find God and have an encounter with Him, He will certainly attend to your call. When you lift your thoughts and heart to God, recognising your needs, He will never ignore your prayer.

Once, a man suffering with leprosy ran to the Lord Jesus and fell at His feet. If this man had walked, or asked for permission to approach Jesus, he would certainly have been turned away because of his condition. In those days, people with leprosy were usually exiled to live in the desert, separate from everyone else.

Knowing that he would be impeded from approaching Jesus, he decided to run and throw himself at Jesus’ feet saying: “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hands and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” (Matthew 8.2-3)

We can approach Jesus in the same way. All you have to do is lift your thoughts to God, throw your life and problems at His feet, and sincerely speak to Him. He will hear and answer your prayer.

God bless you.
