RIO DE JANEIRO-At least 1,9 million
people joined this
Great Vigil for Peace in Rio
de Janeiro, that took place at Botafogo Beach, South
of town, starting at 7pm on
the Public Holiday of 7th of
September, Brazil.
The event hosted the biggest
evangelist of the century, Bp
Edir Macedo, besides the
bishops and pastors from the
UCKG worldwide.
The Senator and Bishop for
the UCKG, Marcelo Crivella,
who sang a few gospel songs,
made a prayer for peace and
asked to bring criminality and
violence to an end, conducted
the fi rst moments of the vigil.
After the emotional report
of several family members
reviving the pain and suffering
of missing dear ones, stricken
by the violence in Rio, several
gospel singers took the stage
to comfort and to plea for peace through their songs.
In an interview given, the
Senator and Bishop spoke
about the importance of
seeking for the Biblical
principles “ It is needed that
people read the Bible and
teach their children. At home,
children need to be in touch
with peace, love and justice.
After all we are a Christian
civilization but lacking hope
due to bad examples” he
said.

At 9pm, Bishop Macedo gave
continuity to the meeting
crying out to the Living God
to be attempt to the prayers
that would be done during
that night. Refering to Psalms
91:1 “Those who live in the
shelter of the Most High
will fi nd rest in the shadow
of the Almighty” and added
saying that those who place
their faith on the Living God
will be protected by Him.
