Faith is positive. It makes you believe that there is a way out even if you can’t see it. It gives you strength to insist as many times as needed. It allows you to see what nobody else is seeing. That’s the reason why at the UCKG we believe that anyone can change. No matter who they are or what they may have done, we will always be ready to pray for them. We will invest time listening to those who have questions and try to answer them based on the word of God, because we believe that what’s broken today can be fixed tomorrow. People, though, can be very quick to dismiss themselves and others. |

When things don’t quite work as expected, they immediately think about giving up because ‘they’re not good enough’ or ‘it’s not meant to be’. They abandon their dreams and embrace their failure – which is circumstantial – as if it was definitive. This kind of attitude can really hurt a person. God believes in us, but we have to believe in ourselves too if we want to tap into His power. The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the LORD. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! (Jeremiah 18:1-6) The potter can redo the vase as often as required until it comes out well - mainly because the clay has no will. It just lets the potter mould it as he sees best. God is the potter while we are like clay in His hands. Can’t He make us a blessing? If you believe this, you will believe that God can change you. And you won’t discard people because they failed you once. You’ll help them instead by letting them know what they can do better (when that’s possible) and by praying for them. Trust me, if you see people this way, you are seeing them as God does. And to you who are usually very negative about yourself I say this: Stop focusing on what you have done wrong. Stop blaming everything and everyone for your failures. Look ahead of you and believe in God’s power to change you. Just believe, don’t worry about how it will happen. That’s up to God. Believe that God can give you bigger and better things than the ones you have lost. It’s never too late. When you believe, you give God the opportunity He needs to show you the way. Remember, God believes in you and we do too.
God bless you! |
