We, the Contrast

Everything about Him is difficult to put into words. His eyes touch you without having said anything. His lips speak so softly; you can easily melt away at only one word out of His mouth. His beauty is beyond anyone's imagination. He is pure, holy, great, amazing, omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. There's nothing wrong with Him, on the contrary, He never experienced flaws or weaknesses and has all those good and perfect qualities anyone dreams of. Talk about the perfect Being. That's who God is.

Then there's the human being. You and me. We on the contrary

to all of the above, can be easily described. Our eyes can hardly touch anyone. We speak so much and say so little.

Our beauty is in most of the times, exterior and vain. We can many times be malicious, selfish, envious, jealous, and evil. We're full of faults, from the minute we wake up to the minute we go to sleep. Our bad qualities exceed our good ones. Talk about the perfect contrast of God.

This contrast can easily be described as water and fire or light and darkness. It's impossible to have both running at the same time, one will out do the other. The same thing is with God and sin. God is the opposite of sin. If you're in sin, you're far from God. If you're with God, you're far from sin. You can never be in between. Some people go to church, pay their tithes, and even serve God, but at the same time, they live in sin and everything they do for God is vain because God is not with them.

But then you ask, if we're all sinners, how can we ever have God?

That's where the Lord Jesus comes in. He sacrificed His perfect life so we could enjoy God's presence. God knew that we would never be without sin and that meant; we would never truly be His. So He came up with the plan of salvation, which means that we can now belong to God even though we're not as perfect as He is. But there's a catch to that...

When we accept the Lord Jesus' sacrifice for us, we're also entering into a very important pact with God. Our life for His life. We decide not to do our will but His. That is when we stop living in sin and we start living for God. We give up the grudges, the evil eyes, evil talks, envy, jealousies, and all the works of the flesh in order to keep our end of this pact.

This can never be only in theory. We may not be perfect but we can certainly stop doing what's wrong. Instead of doing what you'd like to do, do what God would like you to do. It may be hard in the beginning, but the more you do it, the easier it gets, until you get to a point where people start admiring you, not because of what you say or do, but because of who you are. Then we are no more the contrast, but the children.
