AWARD

Bishop Macedo is awarded with the title of “World Agent for Peace” and will be indicated for the Nobel Prize

During the International Conference in Jerusalem “Reshaping the future”, bishop Macedo was granted the award of “World Agent of Peace” by the beginning of June, as acknowledgement of work carried throughout several areas of the world, of rescuing and restoration of lives that before were totally destroyed and marginalized by the society because of addictions, impoverishment, prostitution and other problems.
The event organized by Amisrael, the Messenger of Peace (non-governmental organization (NOG) represented in 16 countries promoting pro peace among peoples and nations) had the support of the Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Parliament.
This title is granted to personalities of several countries who develop a conscience of self- responsibility in the implantation and development of peace by introducing a culture of peace and non-violence within the culture of every country and every town.

According to Amisrael delegate, Erlix Estevez Loayza “an agent of peace is a multiplier for The Culture of Peace, influencing the society and individuals around him”
A World Agent of Peace is the one whose positive influence goes beyond his area of work and cut the physical boarders to other countries. And we find in Bishop Macedo love for the next and works that bring spiritual and social benefits in several nations. Actions inspired by a great desire for peace and the exercise of love” completed the delegate.
Peace Noble Prize
The Parliamentary Assembly “Front Brazil-Israel” will nominate Bishop Edir Macedo for the Peace Noble Prize for 2009 for his humanitarian work over 31 years of UCKG inception. We are working for this purpose along with other members of Parliaments in several other countries.

In Brazil and in other 170 countries there are numerous projects headed by the UCKG founder to benefit humanity. Among many we may mention crusades against violence that took place in several states of Brazil. In Rio de Janeiro, we name the “The Vigil for Peace” that gathered nearly 2 million people last September 7, 2007. Besides constant campaigns against HIV/AIDS in the African Continent – vastly affected by the disease – offering workshops and free distribution of condoms.
Sharing Award
The Peace Nobel will be an acknowledgement to the work of the UCKG in several countries. Only in Brazil, the church counts on the help of 500 thousand volunteers.
Throughout the world people struggle daily to survive violence, diseases, starvation and natural disasters. And in recognition to the humanitarian work – independent to political, race, belief and nationality interests – individuals and organizations are awarded with the Peace Noble Prize since 1901. As example, the organization Doctors without Boarders was awarded in 1999 – 28 years after its inception, and today offers 22 thousand volunteers serving in over 80 countries.
In the same manner that the Association has shared the Noble Prize will all volunteers, Bishop Edir Macedo will share this ward with millions of UCKG volunteers spread throughout the world who apply themselves to an intensive social work. Only in Brazil we can count on over 500 thousand volunteers that serve in projects as “Youth Force” and “People of the Community”

UCKG – 31 YEARS OF FAITH AND CONQUESTS

The UCKG was born in a modest gazebo in Rio de Janeiro by the initiative of Bishop Macedo who wanted to share the Gospel mainly with those marginalized by the society. On the 9 of July 1977, inception date for the church, meetings were already conducted at a small hall formerly used by a funeral parlour. Celebrating 31 years this month, the UCKG is considered a truly worldwide potency due to numerous conquests.
In Brazil, today, the church can count thousands of temples, however taking the Gospel to the four corners of the world was one of the dreams of Bishop Macedo “ Thirty years went by and today the church is represented in over 170 countries”.

Great Crusades of Faith and miracles taking place in several parts of the world also mark the history of UCKG.

The creation of Cultural Centre Jerusalem is one more mark in the history of the Church. Open to the public last 20 May 2008 at the Worldwide Cathedral of Faith, Rio de Janeiro, the place exhibits the Maquette of the Holy Land permanently. It shows the city, topography and architectural design back to 66 BC. All material for the project was imported from Israel.

Media

Aware of the great influence caused by the media worldwide, the UCKG has been investing in the field to reach as many people as possible. In Brazil, Aleluia Radio Network reaches out for millions of listeners.
Newspapers, magazines and websites are great tools in the process of evangelism. Folha Universal (our Faith Works Bulletin) weekly newspaper, founded in 1992 has a national weekly edition of about 3million copies and turns to be the biggest evangelical newspaper in the whole world. Other magazines and publications offer testimonies and messages to its readers giving clear evidence of God’s power.
